Business Intelligence has various meanings. In simplest way, we introduce Business Intelligence as a complex transformation of data into meaningful information and wisdom. The Business Intelligence is used to make our customers unbeatable in the market.
Effective use of BI tools is depending on data warehouse creation, where large amounts of different data come from different systems. The data which comes to the data warehouse is 'translated' to the common format and meaning and is ready to be presented in BI tools. This way we don't have to use reports from different transaction systems. The data which is present in the data warehouse is ready to be present in any of BI tools. The data may be presented in any form, with all different calculations, indexes and indicators.
The concept is simple: BI Tools generate standard reports and, for example, calculate Key Performance Indicator. The concept is as follows: the system generates a standard BI reports of key performance indicators of the enterprise (Key Performance Indicators) on the basis of which have a hypothesis, and verify them through the "breakdowns" of data. For that purpose a variety of analytical tools is used (eg, OLAP, data mining).
BI is a tool for managers, business analysts, people who analyze company strategy and make decisions.
For Line managers who are interested in actual data of their processes we have solution - Business Activity Monitoring (BAM). This solution shows data which comes in real time into the system. We create individual techniques and presentation layout of the thousands, sometimes millions of values. The data is presented with visual management dashboards, cockpits, graphs, gauges, reports to the user. So user is able to quickly recognize their meaning and make a decision.
Other type of BI Tools we implement to our customer is a tool which makes a decision based on the defined algorithm. In the system we parameterize the function which acts when entry criteria are met for example: when ordered product is packed in the magazine, system sends communication to delivery company to pickup package, then sends information to the customer that package is in the way to, sends information to the financial system, adjusts the stock in the magazine, if the stock is low calls the duty manager to realize the purchase of materials etc. (the communication is done thru EDI).
